Uninstalling Third-Party Antivirus Software
If you have a third-party antivirus installed, it's recommended to uninstall it before disabling Windows Defender. Follow these steps:
Using Windows Settings:
Press
Windows Key + I
to open Settings.Navigate to Apps → Installed apps.
Locate your third-party antivirus software.
Click on it and select Uninstall.
Follow the on-screen instructions and restart your PC if prompted.
Disabling Windows Defender Permanently Using Defender Control
Windows Defender does not offer a built-in option to disable itself permanently. However, you can use a tool like Defender Control to turn it off completely.
Steps to Disable Windows Defender Using Defender Control:
Download Defender Control from the developer web (sordum.org).
Extract the downloaded ZIP file.
Run
DefenderControl.exe
as Administrator.Click on Disable Windows Defender.
Confirm any prompts that appear.
Windows Defender should now be completely disabled.
Verifying Windows Defender is Disabled:
Press
Windows Key + I
to open Settings.Go to Privacy & Security → Windows Security.
Click on Virus & Threat Protection.
You should see a message indicating that Windows Defender is turned off.
After completing these steps, Windows Defender should remain permanently disabled until manually re-enabled.
